UNDER

Early morning, Tuesday.
Time to do June's blog post ...
I sit on one side of our small table.
Sometimes used for meals.
Most often used for working on the laptop.

I hear movement, look around, look down.
June sits.  Opposite me.
Under the other chair.

EVERY DAY IS A NEW DAY

Every day we awake to a new day.
Today we will place paws together that for many,
so many who are facing much,
this day will be a better day, a good day.

Please place your paws together for our friends,

CATechisms

 CATechisms by John Delaney

In the author's own words ~ "ostensibly about a specific cat, this book has higher hopes - that all cat lovers, and pet owners, will find here some of their own love for these remarkable beings that inherit our homes and hearts."

Many books tell us stories of cats, share their photos, art, with humor or share the writers own relationship of the unique bond between man and animal.

John Delaney's CATechisms, a collection of his poems accompanied by the images that inspired them, will become a must-read for all pet persons.  He assured us that Ramen has given his paw of approval.

John Delaney retired after 35 years in the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections of Princeton University Library, where he was head of manuscripts processing, and most recently, curator of historic maps.  He has published numerous collections of poems with photography.  If I may take the liberty of quoting John, "if you haven't yet, make room in your heart: adopt a pet."

JUNE 14, 2025: A COMMENT

Yes, we did.
And 36 years later, we are adding fuel by the hour.
Destroying everything, destroying the future, their future.
Letting it all burn.  Letting it all happen.
__________________________

Today, we honor and respect the United States Army, all who have
served and continue to serve as it celebrates its 250th anniversary.

Today, Flag Day.  Though as a nation, we have often fallen short of
the values, morals and high standards for which it stands,
we continue to place hand on heart for our flag.

Today, we stand up, though cannot stand personally with the tens of
thousands of our fellow citizens who will march in protest,
representing "NO KINGS", from East to West and North to South
against the injustice and immoral actions of the current administration,
in the White House, the Cabinet and in the halls of Congress.

Today.  Rain on the parade.

PARASKAVEDEKATRIAPHOBIA

"Paraskavedekatriaphobia",

no matter if you can't pronounce it,

it means a fear of Friday the 13th.

Well, that happens to be today.

And whether that bothers you, causes you fear or not ...

around here, it's FELINE FRIDAY,

and you ought to be very fearful of these,

any and every day of the week!

7 to 9 PM TONIGHT

Saturday night at the Legion town hall,
c'mon down, we'll all have a ball.

Gertie and Hazel and Bertha and Rose,
get you raisin' your skirts and tappin' your toes.

Ethel's wrinkled fingers can still tickle those keys.
Mazie, her voice, please forgive that old scratchy wheeze.

The music?  The ladies might all seem to loud,
but hearing aids were forgotten by most in the crowd.

There's bingo and poker.  Beer, snacks and more.
Oh, no ~ someone threw peanut shells on the floor!

Sally 'n' Sam, our dancers supreme,
did fall on their arses. Call 911. Soon on the scene.

Walkers, canes, wheelchairs, too,
are all pushed to the side for the EMT crew.

Sweet Sally, poor Sam, their dancing will now end,
her busted ankle, his torn meniscus, weeks on the mend.

𝅘𝅥𝅮

But the band played on,
introducing their newest member,
and little mascot, JUNE the Cat,
who meowed her first live purrformance
during intermission.
Applause Please.

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU ~

Just as we were thinking about a post for today, an email arrived from
our dear friends Linda and little Shelby ~
last Friday we had asked for "paws together" for Shelby, following her very serious surgery.
So many of you came forth and we thank you, she is doing well now and
Linda also wanted to share her appreciation.
In her own words ~

 💗

Shelby and I want to reach out and say thank you for all the prayers, love, and support shown after Shelby's life-saving surgery a week ago.  Prayers really do work.  Shelby is doing great, and her recovery time doesn't appear to be taking as long as anticipated.  If it weren't for her 7-inch long staple "zipper" on the side of her body and all her beautiful long fur being shaved off, one would never know what she went through.  Just knowing that so many out there were thinking about Shelby and wishing her well was a huge comfort to me.  I just knew all the prayers would be answered and they were.  So once again, to all our Blogville friends out there who left comments and healing thoughts here, POTP, the CB, and DaWeenies of Florida, my most sincere THANK YOU.
